Minurphy builds rectangular PVC ice baths for athletes, recovery studios, home users, and physio clinics. Same food-safe PVC and RF-welded construction as our KOI vats, built around a galvanised steel rim for a body-fit rectangular shape that plunges better than a round tub.
Why rectangular over a round tub
A rectangular bath fits a lying or seated plunge position properly. You get full submersion in less water, which means faster cooldown and less ice per session. The steel rim holds the shape taut when filled, and the deep cobalt-blue 900 gsm PVC gives you a structural liner that does not sag like a bag-style plunge.
Why a PVC bath over a steel tub or plastic drum
Steel tubs rust, cost a fortune, and weigh 40 kg empty. Plastic drums crack under thermal shock if you top them with ice weekly. A Minurphy PVC bath does not rust, does not crack, and the frame dismantles into a carry bag. Fills from a hose in 5 minutes, drops to plunge temperature with 15 kg of ice, empties cleanly through the 50 mm ball valve.
Food-safe, welded, drainable
The liner is 900 gsm food-safe PVC, the same material we use for KOI vats holding live fish. Seams are RF heat-welded in our Durban factory, not stitched and glued. There are no stitch holes to leak, no thread fibres to shed, and no seam points to fail under cold stress.
Standard fitting is a 50 mm threaded bulkhead with a ball valve for fast drainage. Optional inlet fittings for pool or aquarium chillers, and a floating pool-cover disc that holds cold longer between plunges.
Sizes
- Compact — 1.2 m x 0.6 m x 0.6 m deep. Home use, small gym corner.
- Single athlete — 1.8 m x 0.7 m x 0.6 m deep. Full-body plunge for larger athletes.
- Studio / twin — custom footprint to order. For recovery clinics running parallel plunges.
All sizes use the same 900 gsm food-safe PVC liner and galvanised steel rim. The rim dismantles into four sections for storage or transport, and the PVC liner folds into a carry bag.
For studios and clinics
For recovery clinics and wellness studios, we supply matched sets with branded PVC skins, chiller-ready fittings, and a simple site plan for drainage. Turnaround is 5 to 10 working days for up to 6 baths.
Built for SA conditions
The PVC is UV-stabilised and rated for indoor and outdoor use. Covered spaces last longest. For outdoor pool decks, we recommend the insulated outer shell and a shade structure to protect the liner from direct sun when not in use.
