Minurphy builds water tanks for everything from a single retired tosai going to a new home, to a recovery clinic running parallel ice baths, to a koi breeder moving show stock across the country. The construction is the same across the range: food-safe 900 gsm PVC, RF heat-welded in our KZN factory, sized to your job.
KOI vats and transport tanks
A welded seam holds water. A stitched seam leaks. For fish transport, that is the whole point. Our 900 gsm PVC is RF-welded into a clean, continuous bond with no stitch holes, no fibres, and no contamination risk.
Standard kit is a galvanised steel ring frame that dismantles in 10 minutes and a PVC liner that folds into a bag. Most breeders want 2 to 3 m diameter vats at 0.8 m depth for holding stock. Transporters prefer shallower, wider vats that fit a trailer. Show organisers want rectangular judging vats with viewing windows. Tell us the shape and the use, we build it.
Ice baths and cold plunge tubs
For athletes, recovery studios, home users, and physio clinics, we build rectangular PVC ice baths sized for actual plunge ergonomics. The standard single-athlete is 1.8 m x 0.7 m x 0.6 m deep, which gives a full-body plunge for larger athletes. Compact is 1.2 m x 0.6 m x 0.6 m for home or small gym corners.
Imported single-person cold plunges start around R15,000 to R25,000. A locally-made Minurphy PVC ice bath of similar size starts around R3,500 for the compact and R5,500 for the single-athlete. Same function, a fraction of the price, and we repair it at the factory when needed.
Pond liners for gardens and aquaculture
Single-sheet PVC pond liners up to 1050 gsm, cut and welded to any pond shape. Tell us perimeter and depth, we template a liner that drops in with minimal overlap. For aquaculture nursery operations, we build modular holding tanks with branded PVC skins and a chiller-ready inlet bulkhead.
Backup water tanks
For load-shedding, borehole storage, and emergency water reserves, we build collapsible PVC water tanks in capacities from 1000 to 10,000 litres. Standard kit is a galvanised steel ring frame, food-safe 900 gsm PVC liner, lockable lid, 50 mm gravity-drain bulkhead, and an optional inlet fitting for pump or gravity feed. Folds into a carry bag for storage when not deployed.
Fittings, covers, and extras
Standard: 50 mm bulkhead drain with ball valve. Optional: net bird cover, shade canopy, split-panel access, 75 mm show-drain, aerator mounting points, branded PVC skin, chiller inlet bulkheads.
Built for SA conditions
The PVC is UV-stabilised and rated for both indoor and outdoor use. Covered spaces last longest. For outdoor pool decks and exposed pond installations, we recommend a shade structure to protect the liner from direct sun when not in use.
